  • Abstract
Industry and academia share many common objectives in planning and supporting the education and training of the next generation of power engineers. But, as the ultimate beneficiary and principal paymaster of this process, it is in industry´s interest to express its wishes and requirements to educators as early as possible, and to commit sufficient resources to the task to ensure its needs are met. The author describes how, by working in close harmony with our academic colleagues we can ensure that industry´s requirements are fully recognised and addressed, and thus influence the complete process of engineer´s education and training-making a reality of Finnieston´s original concept of the formation of engineers. Only by a partnership of industry and academia can we attain our common goal
