Abstract
VLSI and especially high speed VLSI technology, is beginning to have an impact on television and video signal processing. Transmission of television signals will remain analog for the indefinite future, but signal processing is already largely digital in parts of television studios and post production suites, and will soon be implemented in studio recorders, and in the future, signal processing of functions will become a factor, too . . . The panel will discuss the commercial and consumer aspects of the television systems and project the timing of the introduction of various digital video processing functions.
