  • Abstract
Adapter characterisation plays a vital role in a wide range of RF and microwave measurements. Presented here is a comparison of two different methods of adapter characterisation, the direct efficiency method as developed by NPL, and the well known and popular three known loads technique. The merits of each method are reviewed with particular regard to their use within the noise measurement context
