Abstract
The paper discusses the advantages of receiver diversity in GSM based Passive Coherent Location (PCL) systems with focus on the detection of small targets at short ranges. Based on the evaluation of real data acquired in an experimental trial in Eckernfoerde, the multistatic configuration (multi-receiver and multi-transmitter) is compared with the multiple bistatic case (single receiver and multi-transmitter). The performance comparison will be carried out in terms of different criteria, e.g. position estimation accuracy, track maintenance and double track avoidance.
