Abstract :
An optical fibre analogue link for radio astronomy is reported in this paper. A 200 km fibre link was set-up to transmit a broadband radio astronomical signal. Using a chirped Bragg grating as dispersion compensator, the link bandwidth was increased to 20 GHz, compared with less than 4 GHz when no dispersion compensation technique was used. A field trial on BT´s installed fibre in East Anglia was performed and showed successful transmission of the 20 GHz analogue signal over a 200 km installed fibre
