Abstract :
Summary form only given. Results of several recent experiments with wire array Z-pinches on the MAGPIE facility (1.5MA, 250ns) will be presented. We will report on the use of Thomson scattering diagnostic for measurements of plasma parameters in Al and W cylindrical wire arrays and for measurements of velocities of supersonic radiatively cooled plasma jets in conical and radial wire arrays. We will also present measurements of the plasma distribution inside wire arrays during the ablation phase, obtained with laser interferometer.
