Abstract
This paper introduces a new haptic rendering system called Protean. Protean is designed as a flexible set of classes for the SuperCollider audio language coupled with custom Haptic Device clients that provide haptic feedback for one or more end users. By using the system, users can rapidly create haptic user interfaces that can be coupled with an excellent realtime audio engine, with few limits to creative expression.
