  • Abstract
This paper reports the first experimental observation of rocking in a laser-like system, namely a single-longitudinal mode two-wave-mixing photorefractive optical oscillator of large Fresnel number and tunable resonance. Rocking is able to transform the originally phase invariant system into a phase-locked system with two bistable opposite phases, which leads to the replacement of vortices in the free running device by phase domains in the rocked configuration.
