Abstract
In this paper, the imaging model for the translational invariant case of bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is deduced, based on the monostatic squint mode. A derivation of the point target responses both in two-dimensional (2D) frequency and time domains is presented. Using these results, the range migration algorithm (RMA), which could solve the large squint angle in monostatic SAR, is transplanted to the bistatic case. Especially, the key operation of Stolt mapping is interpreted. The simulation results show that, the RMA in bistatic SAR could focus the bistatic large squint very well.
