Abstract :
In this paper we propose for development and testing a low profile omnidirectional microstrip antenna. The antenna operating bandwidth covers 5-5.2 and 5.8-5.9 GHz bands being suitable for 5GHz ISM and UNII bands operation. The antenna is fabricated in FR4 due to low cost with overall dimensions of 77 × 10 × 1.6 mm3. The antenna is designed such that the currents on the top and bottom radiating elements are in phase. This antenna has the advantage of having a simple configuration, low profile, compactness, and low fabrication cost. Microwave experiments and numerical simulations are also performed to demonstrate its functionality.
