Abstract
We introduce multipulse multicarrier (MPMC) modulation, a novel wireless communication scheme that features several advantages over traditional single-pulse multicarrier systems. Multipulse Gabor Riesz bases are provided as mathematical foundation of MPMC systems and vector formulations and equivalent Zak-Fourier domain formulations for MPMC modulator and demodulator are presented. We further derive biorthogonality conditions ensuring perfect symbol recovery for MPMC systems operating over ideal channels. Finally, efficient design methods for MPMC systems are presented and illustrated with numerical examples.
