Abstract :
Opportunities of application of power high-current high-voltage electron beam valves (EBV) in reactive power static compensators in 50-60 Hz AC networks are considered. The scheme and design of 100 kW converter model on the basis of EBV are described. Experimental researches of work of model in the pulse-width modulation mode on frequency 2 kHz have allowed to define ways of creation of 1 MVA STATCOM.
