Abstract
A multidimensional database (MDB) is a recent development in the evolution of databases. Such databases have multidimensional analysis functionality, which facilitates multidimensional spatial analysis and improves the speed of spatial analysis. Based on previous work to develop the Multidimensional Hyperspectral Database for Rocks and Minerals (MHDRM), the multidimensional analysis required was confirmed and system composition was determined. The Multidimensional Analysis Tools (MAT) used included roll-up, drill-down, slice, and dice operations. All detailed functions of the MAT were described and effect outline of each function was produced. This work lays the foundation for construction of the MHDRM.
