  • Abstract
Discusses the dynamic behavior of a third-order autonomous circuit with only one nonlinear element, which is a common base transistor pair without feedback structure. The computer simulation of its behavior is performed, and the phase portraits of some strange attractor along with its corresponding spectrum are given. The Lyapunov exponents and dimension are derived to confirm the existence of chaos in this circuit. The result of the laboratory experiment agrees well with its computer simulation counterpart. Thus, this simple third-order autonomous circuit with a common base transistor pair without feedback structure is indeed a good candidate due to its simplicity and efficiency
