Abstract :
This paper describes an air conditioning system for telecommunications equipment rooms, where a considerable number of electronic switching systems are installed closely together. With the continued introduction of new digital switching equipment, heat generation per unit floor area in equipment rooms tends to increase and be non-uniformly distributed. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to control room temperature and humidity appropriately by conventional air conditioning systems. To solve this problem, a new air conditioning system called MACS (Multi-unit Air Conditioning System) has been developed by the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (NTT), which aims at high energy savings, maintainability and controllability of room temperature and humidity.
