Abstract
An accurate simulation model for the three-phase matrix converter (TPMC) is derived to validate easily the control strategy of the TPMC by using conventional PC software tools such as Matlab/Simulink first. To significantly reduce the switch loss and thermal stress of the active switches, insensitivity to input voltage distortion and fast dynamic performance, a current-fed controller which integrates soft commutation strategy with the conventional hysteretic current control is proposed and verified using 1KW prototype.
