Abstract :
This paper begins with an introduction to the time difference of arrival (TDOA) problem and the classical cross correlation solution. This is followed by a discussion of two wavelet-based TDOA estimation methods; the first uses wavelet pre-filters and classical cross correlation, and the second performs an inner product of the discrete wavelet transform coefficients. Numerical comparisons and simulations using synthetic signals are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the wavelet-based methods.
