Abstract :
Elder-care is a very important issue in many developed countries such as U.S., Japan, England and Taiwan. In this paper, we focus on the bed status detection (BSD) with single IP camera for the chronic ailment and act slowly elders in the elder-care center (EC). Based on simple and fast motion estimation (ME) and binary area matching (BAM) algorithms, we can automatically remind the professional nurse which one of six elders will go to or leaving bed in a room. Simulation results show that we have 95% detection rate to assure the elders need our assistance immediately.
