Abstract
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems are evaluated in an indoor rectangular corridor using experimental measurements and an image based 3-D ray-tracing tool. The performance of a small 2×2 metamaterial inspired antenna array is compared against that of an array of closely spaced monopoles. Simulated and measured results lead to similar conclusions about the relative performance of the two MIMO systems under comparison. Some observed discrepancies are also discussed thereby leading to a summary of some of the challenges associated with this type of studies.
