  • Abstract
This paper designs an H2 controller with pole placement for a half-vehicle suspension system, reduces the controller order nearly by half and implements it in a digital signal processor. The mixed H2 and pole placement control strategy, together with controller order reduction, makes the controller hardware implementation reliable and easy. The reduced controller, assessed by both software simulations and hardware-in-the-loop experiments, effectively improves vehicle ride comfort while satisfying the constraints on suspension travel, tyre deflection and actuator force.
