Abstract :
Geological applications often need displaying of the shape, structure and spatial distribution of underground rock through exploring the geological survey database. In this paper, we present an approach for interactive modeling and visualization of three-dimensional (3D) Geological Bodies. A Hybrid 3D data model based on multi-DEMs and tri-prism volume is introduced for depicting the 3D Geological Bodies, and a specific conforming Delauny triangulation algorithm(CDT) for dealing with irregular geological boundaries and the optimization of the geological interface mesh is introduced. We have evaluated our approaches by applying it in a borehole-based geological visualization system to represent 3D geographical bodies with powerful capability for display, query, and analysis.
