Abstract :
Many industrial processes - from continuous casting to combustion engines - are subject to disturbances with periodic or almost periodic characteristics in the sense that the frequency and the amplitude may change with time. A specially interesting case is presented by bodies which can produce or transmit a large range of vibrations. In this paper we discuss the asymptotic suppression of such disturbances using an internal model approach and a frequency estimation algorithm. The effectiveness of the algorithm is demonstrated by its application to a single force oscillating steel plate, an experimental setup which confers the suitability of the approach.
