Abstract :
This paper argues that an essential step in the evolution to the information superhighway, is the convergence of a host of discrete information industries into one. Most importantly among these is the integration of the telephony and CATV networks. This convergence is occurring primarily because of changing technological and competitive forces. The integration of these networks is not only inevitable but will provide significant benefits in the area of economics, education and the environment
