Abstract :
Current commercial wireless systems use fixed burst structures for data transmission. In this paper, the ergodic Shannon capacity of some time-varying frequency selective channels with fixed burst structured transmission is derived. Multiple antennas in the transmitter and/or in the receiver are assumed. Practical methods for analyzing the capacity of real wireless communication systems in MIMO channels are proposed based on the analysis. The obtained results are applied via numerical examples to the GSM/EDGE system.
