Abstract :
To support multimedia applications, a network should offer a wide range of services (such as voice, video) over an integrated network infrastructure. The development of computer telephony integration (CTI) applications allows one to provide multimedia services to intelligent networks. Intelligent networks are able to control services in the network from a single database, to introduce echo cancellers, reduce propagation and variation delays, to communicate with users connected to other networks, to suppress silence in conversations, etc. With the introduction of intelligence and internet/intranet applications, the telecommunication industry begins to follow the same path as the computer industry. Telephony based on broadband networks and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) gains more and more notoriety
