Abstract :
Discusses the results of the EXODUS Phase I experiments. They show that DECT can be used for providing mobile voice and data coverage in all the environments: public, business and residential. It appears that enhancement of DECT handover is necessary to optimise the performance of voice and data calls in situations of poor coverage. From the experimental results, it appears that base stations located indoors do not provide a reliable mechanism for filling coverage gaps in the outdoor environment. However, handover to an external base station may improve the voice quality in indoor environments when coverage is poor
