Abstract :
The purpose of the engine test rigs is for testing the quality and performance of lubricating oils. The rigs are set up for the testing of car engines. The paper discusses a system which comprises five test stands on which car engines are mounted. These are controlled by a PC based program to generate and execute test sequences. A total of 38 signals are monitored, including exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure, output torque, throttle, oil temperature, fuel flow rate, power output etc. Data is archived to an Oracle database resident on a server for subsequent analysis
