Abstract :
Designing web technology courses that emphasize both knowledge concepts and hands-on experience is a challenging task. In traditional approach students spend half time in lectures and the half in labs. This study proposes a new approach that uses a combination of studios, mini-lectures, class blog and wiki. We conduct a case study in an undergraduate class to demonstrate and evaluate this approach. Based upon survey results and students´ blog posts, students preferred the new approach over the traditional one, and stated that they were more motivated and had more effective learning experiences as the result.
