Abstract
The world is entering into a new era where computing is becoming mobile and ubiquitous. Mobile coordination is a fundamental problem in distributed mobile systems that arises from the autonomy nature of mobile nodes. In this paper, we propose a generic grid architecture for resource coordination and management in cross-organizational mobile setting. We describe a mobile ontology with a focus on the properties relevant for the coordination problem in decentralized mobile systems. We also show how the various aspects of coordination can be addressed using this metadata ontology. In this approach, mobile nodes C or mobile peers C advertise descriptions of their resources and can thus establish acquaintances with other nodes. Acquainted mobile peers can then share data and coordinate their interaction. Furthermore, to address the heterogeneity problem, a formal mapping system is developed to formalize and facilitate the mapping between heterogenous mobile data.
