Abstract :
This paper comprises two sections. The first section looks at the quality of ac supplies found in telecommunications centres in the U.K and compares this with the quality of supply needed for reliable operation of telecomms or computer equipment. The requirement for Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) is discussed and in the second section some of the problems in selecting and installing UPS are considered from the user´s point of view .
