Abstract
The emergence of new technologies for power processing plants has complicated the selection process for power equipment. During the evaluation of power systems, one has to look at the advantages and disadvantages of various technologies, their impact on redundant systems and the reliability real or calculated. Also system costs usually dictates where trade offs have to be made. This paper deals with some aspects of paralleling inverters and UPS systems. It outlines various problems related to the technology chosen and looks at the redundancy/reliability problem.
