Abstract
A large confectionery manufacturer has been using the Quin programmable transmission system (PTS) for some years to improve the flexibility and performance of their wrapping and packaging machines. The PTS replaces mechanical linkages with separately controlled servo motors. A typical example of the machine type is the horizontal flow-wrapping machine, used to wrap solid or filled bar products. This paper describes the application of the PTS to this type of machine, highlighting some particular requirements of the machine and what features of the PTS are used to address them
