Abstract :
This paper is intended to provide fundamental data sheet required to develop an effective and efficient DDoS attack response system. To do so, we newly classify DDoS attack techniques by using a location where denial of service occurs. In addition, we propose a new availability index for the web server by considering various features of web service and protocol. We finally analyze existing representative attack techniques and representative commercial response techniques to evaluate the proposed classification and the availability index.
