  • Abstract
This paper describes the actual technical performance of the entire Globalstar system as measured after design, construction and deployment of: the full satellite constellation, the gateways, the user terminals, the control systems for the satellites and the communication system, as well as dynamic resource planning. The author is unaware of any comparable body of work for an end-to end communication system of this complexity wherein the concept was described, the work in progress chronicled and the final accomplishment reported. This paper reports actual measured data of Globalstar´s quality of service, which shows the probability of success over broad geographic areas measured for both call establishment and call maintenance. This data is the most remarkable demonstration of such a complex end-to-end system evolving from concept to design, through construction and finally, to deployment. It has required cooperation, coordination and dedication by an extraordinary team of disparate visionaries, financiers, system engineers, businessmen, engineers, politicians, operations experts, operators and many others to bring the system to fruition
