Abstract :
We, human beings, depend on other species on earth for our survival. Maintaining a sustainable and safe environment for all species including human beings is essential. Information Technologies and Systems (ITSs) provide help as well as harm in this effort. Current and future generations of people must have knowledge about green environment and practice to achieve and maintain it. With this in mind the author has designed the course, "IT and Environment" as a general education course for IT, IS, CS as well as for all other students at Framingham State University during 2011. He has offered it during the summer of 2012 as an online course for the first time. This paper describes the course as it was designed and offered and the lessons learned from it.
