Abstract :
Web server log repositories are great source of knowledge, which keeps the record of web usage patterns of different web users. The Web usage pattern analysis is the process of identifying browsing patterns by analyzing the user´s navigational behavior. The web server log files which store the information about the visitors of web sites is used as input for the web usage pattern analysis process. First these log files are preprocessed and converted into required formats so web usage mining techniques can apply on these web logs. This paper reviews the process of discovering useful patterns from the web server log file of an academic institute. The obtained results can be used in different applications like web traffic analysis, efficient website administration, site modifications, system improvement and personalization and business intelligence etc.
