Effective CAD

The University of Southampton Central Design Service (CDS) was set up 26 years ago, to provide an engineering design service for any department within the University, especially those with no such capability of their own. The CDS has used Computer Aided Design/Draughting for the past 10 years and all work is now produced solely on CAD, pencil drawing having been phased out seven years ago. Since the decision to switch to computer draughting a great deal of expertise has been built up in the use of CAD; both two and three dimensional. This expertise is detailed in the paper
