Abstract :
The reliable video transmission is very challenging. Efficient coding and transmission control techniques are required to meet the needs of QoS (quality of service). RTP, a real time transmission protocol, can provide the services of video transmission control. H.264, the latest coding and compression standard from ITU-T, is currently dominating the field by offering a flexible architecture and compression gain of up to 50%. A fast mode decision algorithm for H.264 intra prediction and an adaptive control model of video transmission are presented in this paper. Experimental results shows that the proposed fast algorithm can achieve 30% to 60% computation reduction on aspects of video coding, and the adaptive control method of video transmission can gain good QoS so that the stability and good qualities of video transmission can be ensured.
