Abstract :
This paper presents a design approach for small touch screen´s virtual keyboard. Our keyboard aims to reduce keyboard size and prevent errors from mistyping wrong buttons. Our design uses cursor to point out character that users want to input instead of typing directly at the button. We developed a prototype keyboard for Thai language text input. With this keyboard user can input message by both directly pressing buttons and using cursor for input. It can also be adapted to existing keyboard layout so users will not having much difficulty to remember character positions. Our experiment shows that using the proposed method yields better performance than normally pressing buttons in case of small size button.
