  • Abstract
In China, many of the best resources for wind generation are located far away from load centers. Large generating facilities connected to distant load centers by long AC transmission lines face numerous technical challenges. Oriented by the current state and development of wind power generation in China, impacts of large scale wind power integration on power system are addressed in this paper to demonstrate the necessity of wind power planning on the regional or higher level. Through the researches on several practical projects of wind farms integration and wind power generation planning, the paper presents the potential impacts of wind power integration on the generation scheduling and dispatch, the load flow, voltage stability, transmission capability, system short-circuit capacity, system transient stability. Furthermore, the wind power integration research before their planning and construction is indispensable to sustained and healthy development of wind power generation for a region or wider area.
