Abstract :
This paper reviews progress in the Esprit funded project MInOSS (Microintegrated Intelligent Optical Sensor Systems-Ref 7101). The project is concerned with the design and development of intelligent opto-electronic sensor systems. The project aims include the development of three main demonstrators. These demonstrators are defined in terms of the number and type of sensing elements being used. They are: a single optical element for remote, active fibre-optic, dual beam measurements of physical parameters; a linear array of photosensors with on-chip signal processing and linearisation; and intelligent 2-D arrays of photosensors with on-chip analogue to digital conversion and signal processing. This paper concentrates on the development of circuits and systems using the intelligent 2-D arrays
