Abstract
Java Enterprise Edition or Java EE is one of the popular development platforms used for web applications and web services. In addition, critical business applications usually deploy a Java EE cluster for enhancing service performance and availability since the application workload has been increasing recently. This paper proposes a model to evaluate the performance of a Java EE cluster based on the characteristics of the TPC-H queries which are widely used for evaluating the performance of several databases. Each TPC-H query is characterized by the number of tables accessed, and its response time which is used as a guideline for balancing the workload on the Java EE cluster. The experimental results show that the proposed model gives better throughput than that of the typical Round Robin.
