  • Abstract
    The loop dynamics of a radio-frequency (RF) micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) based charge-pump phase-locked loop (CPLL) have been investigated using a continuous time analysis. This analysis reveals the bandwidth limitations of a PLL due to the MEMS varactor. A technique is presented to overcome the inherent low bandwidths by modifying the loop filter circuit. A 1.56GHz PLL is designed and simulated for a Global Positioning System (GPS) application using this technique
