Abstract
Discusses sources of delay for real-time video data transmitted through packet-switched networks. We describe an experiment in which we investigate the use of forward error correction (FEC) as a means of controlling errors during the transport of coded video data. We compare this with traditional ARQ error control techniques. We conclude that for high bandwidth-delay networks, FEC could provide a suitable means of controlling errors in real-time video data
