Abstract
A computer-assisted courseware engineering (CACE) for industrial applications, called AGEDI (Atelier de Genie Didacticiel), is described which takes advantage of such advanced information technology on computer based learning and instruction. AGEDI takes its inspiration from a model used in human-computer interaction, and the computational and cognitive approaches to the communication of knowledge used in the field of artificial intelligence and tutoring systems. A brief description of the overall and functional architectures of AGEDI, through its main modules, are given. Emphasis is put on the use of a combined object oriented/hypermedia approach for the presentation layer (hypermedia system), and the production rules representation for the application layer (ICAI module). Improvement and automatization of the educational software production thanks to software engineering methodology are the main objectives of the project AGEDI
