Abstract :
Personality has been studied in its relation to individual´s mental health. However, in workplace context, personality of individual should be argued in relation to the personality of people with whom the individual is working with. This study investigated the relationship between mental health indices of individual and personality indices of both the individual and people with whom the person is associated in the workplace. Infrared sensors embedded in nameplate-like devices are utilized to objectively observe the associations of people in a workplace. Personality indices and three mental health indices were measured with 92 individuals in the workplace. Results showed that individual´s mental health can be estimated not only with the personality scores of the person himself/herself, but also with the personality scores of the people with whom the person is associated in the workplace.
