Abstract
An analysis of harmonic reduction with negative dispersion for broadband helix Traveling-Wave tubes (TWTs) is put forward. The synchronization of the harmonic content is reduced by the decrease of the phase velocity of fundamental wave demonstrated by the field relative phase. A 6~18GHz TWT is designed with a negative dispersion to improve the output power at low frequency by harmonic reduction and with reduced phase velocity and then a positively taper pitch profile to improve the output power at high frequency.
