Abstract
A proof-of-principle research effort is presented to demonstrate the benefits of using a permanent magnet quadrupole focusing lattice to increase the beam current in a TWT. Recent work by researchers at the Naval Research Laboratory indicated the significant potential of such an approach. A simulation study is presented using the AFRL ICEPIC code and the SAIC/NRL MICHELLE code.
