Abstract :
Phase formation and diffusion are important topics of the material science of the alloys. By phase diagrams, it is meant that any diagram showing which phases are present in a system. In this study, the phases formed in Al-Mg system were thermodynamically calculated and experimentally investigated. A computer software tool and databases were used for the phase calculations. A brief review of thermodynamics was also given and the results of thermodynamics parameters were calculated related to the phase diagrams. Various experimental techniques such as the X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analyses were used to identify chosen samples of diagram compositions. Finally, the correlations of the calculated and experimental data have been well obtained.
