Abstract
Summary form only given. The five papers presented in this minitrack illustrate the wide scope of work in the area of distributed caching and replication. It should be evident that each of the work presented could benefit from results elaborated in the other projects. For example, consistency models are intensively studied in the context of DSM systems while the questions of how, where and when to store data remotely is investigated in greater detail in distributed information systems such as the World Wide Web. However, there are many other groups working on these and related issues such as selective replication control or distributed databases.
